Geologists take the history of Erciyes until 20 million years ago. According to the researches carried out, today’s mountain and its surroundings were covered with the sea 20 million years ago. Over time, cracks in the earth’s crust resulted in shattering of land around the resulting sea, and the surrounding area became a lake. Millions of years have passed for this job, and finally about 15 million years ago there was volcanic explosions in this lake. These eruptions that took place in this period called ” neogene period ” caused the formation of a cone-shaped mountain which is 400 m higher than this day’s Erciyes in the middle of the lake. Since the crater on the hill feeds two chimneys, large pieces of lavas gushing from it deposit in the lake, creating a new layer; And fine powder fragments were thrown as far as 100 km from the mountain, bringing ash heaps to the fields. This led to the formation of the stone quarries around this day’s Kayseri and the formation of the Fairy Bacalar in the vicinity of Goreme, and in particular the crater ashes as we have called the bims, to be found in large masses around. The rims and ashes erupted by Mount Erciyes in this period came to a conclusion. After this first formation, the Erciyes Mountain was a long one after the first formation. He entered silence period. During this period, the waters around the lake were pulled and a piece of land formed, breaking and slipping into it. Tekir Plateau, Koç Mountain, Sultan Sazlığı formed. The mountain later became operational again. This date is about 2 or 2.5 million years ago. This new volcanic movement brought Ali Mountain, Yılanlı Mountain, Beşparmak Mountain to the water. During this eruption, small stone fragments led to the formation of volcanic peaks around the mountain. Now the environment is completely black. Erciyes is the only guard of the land that is formed by water withdrawal.
